We are the Robots - mash-up
10 minute live video remix (Vj Performance) on turntables, using digitally encoded vinyl records, laptop and video projector.
This performance was apart of my Graduate Studies at the University of Victoria, and was completed over 7days which made up my Comprehensive Exam in Digital Media Art. The performance was developed alongside a written text, though it is not meant as an ‘illustration’ of it but rather as a companion piece.
In the 10 minute performance I reference (sample) several artists, musicians, and theorists (including John Cage, Dick Higgins, Marshall McLuhan, Kraftwerk, Arthur and Marilouise Kroker, Stelarc . . .etc) that I discuss in the text. And through using the form of the remix, the We are the Robots – Mash-up is an audio/ visual collage that approaches the ideas in the text from a different perspective.
